Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificates

As a result of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) on January 1st 2007 all new dwellings in Ireland must have a Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificate. The BER certificate will be similar to the energy labelling of household appliances or the litres per kilometre rating for a car.

The directive is extended to include BER ratings on all new buildings from January 1st 2008.

And finally from January 1st 2009 a BER certificate will be required for all existing dwellings and other existing buildings when offered for sale or rental.

John Farrell Insulation

Insulation is one of the best investments that an individual could make in their property. With this in mind John Farrell Insulation was formed in 1989. John identified a niche in the market and having worked in the construction industry it was a seamless transition to analysing thermal conductivity and thermal resistance to calculating U Values and ensuring that Irish homes complied with Part L of the building regulations.

Over 10,000 commercial, industrial and residential units have benefited from their expertise. John Farrell Insulation provides a wide range of services including Attic & Acoustic Insulation, Fire proofing, Waterproofing and factory sealed Radon Barrier.

Our Tip: One of the most cost-effective ways to make your home more comfortable is to add insulation to the attic.
